The Lagos State University Muslim Alumni (LASUMA) on Friday, 2nd of October 2026, paid a courtesy visit to his Distinguished and committed member, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, as part of its ongoing engagements with prominent stakeholders for support and partnership on LASUMA Strategic plans and 2026 Annual General Assembly and Scholarship Awards.

The visit provided an opportunity for LASUMA to appreciate the Chairman for his wonderful support and contributions to the development of the Alumni while presenting some of its major programmes and long-term development initiatives.

The delegation was led by the National President of LASUMA, Dr. Abdulazeez Anjorin, the General Secretary, Mr. Mushafau Ige; Public Relations Manager, Dr. Jamiu Yahya; Ex-officio I, Alh. Sulaimon Razak; Ex-officio II, Alh. Monsur Popoola; Ramadan Committee Chair, Alh. AbdulLateef Agboluaje; Bro. Jamiu Rasak; and Hajia Adiat Salaudeen-Kukoyi.

In the course of the meeting, LASUMA through its President formally presented the Chairman with an award of recognition for his support during the LASUMA Handing-Over/Transition program held in July, 2026. Dr. Anjorin subsequently briefed the Chairman on LASUMA’s recent activities, and plans, with particular emphasis on the 2026 AGM and the alumni scholarship initiative aimed at supporting indigent and brilliant students of Lagos State University.

In a significant show of support and in his usual act for previous scholarship sponsorships, Hon. Olowa pledged the sum of ₦3 million towards the LASUMA students' scholarships, reinforcing his commitment to continued support of student's educational development.

The delegation further informed the chairman on its preparations for the LASUMA 2026, forthcoming Annual General Meeting, Awards & Scholarships Presentation, scheduled for Sunday, 6th December, 2026. The event will also feature Awards of Excellence, Keynote Lecture and fundraising for LASUMA Endowments.

In response, Hon. Olowa pledged to support the programme by facilitating the provision of a suitable hall for the event, and to ensure a successful programme.

Another major area of discussion was the LASUMA’s five-year strategic plan, which seeks to establish a sustainable institutional and investment structure for all LASUMA members. Dr. Anjorin explained that the LASUMA strategic plan includes the pursuit of a permanent LASU Muslim Alumni center, with the possibility of acquiring landed properties within and outside the University campus to accommodate LASUMA Hall, offices, sports, health centre and other development spaces that would serve the Alumni and potentially generate sustainable income for its investors.

Hon. Olowa welcomed the initiative and provided guidance in recognition of the potentials of a landmark project which will serve as a long-term asset for the alumni and support its future activities and investments.

The delegation also used the opportunity to present the Lagos State University ₦600m ultramodern mosque project for the Muslim community. The President explained the importance of the project and appealed for the Chairman’s support towards its actualisation.

Hon. Olowa expressed his willingness to support the project. LASUMA described the engagement as another significant and fruitful step toward building lasting partnerships capable of advancing its educational, religious, investment and community-development initiatives.

The visit ended on a note of appreciation and special prayer from the LASUMA delegation to the Executive Chairman and entire Ibeju-Lekki local Government, Lagos State, and Nigeria as a whole and for his warm reception and guidance towards actualising LASUMA key projects, particularly his express support for LASUMA’s short and long-term strategic plans and the proposed ultramodern mosque project.
